Product Data Management (PDM) is a system for managing design data and engineering processes in one central location. Engineering teams use PDM software to organize product information, track revisions, collaborate, manage change orders, generate bill of materials (BOMs), and more.

Although it contains product information, it is not to be considered among the systems used to collect and distribute information which is then organized into documents that illustrate the product outside the company.
